Beacon Broadband, Inc., the local high-speed internet provider, powered by Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative, announced Key Line Construction will join the team to carry on the construction of its world-class fiber broadband network. The network will make affordable high-speed broadband services available to all CCEC members and some underserved areas beyond the CCEC service territory.
“From the beginning, our hope has always been to keep as much of the money spent on this project in the local economy. The opportunity to partner with Key Line Construction, a local company that understands our community’s needs takes us right back to the reason of why we do this,” said Paul Recanzone, Beacon Broadband General Manager. “By working with local companies, we are not only ensuring our future customers get the reliable broadband service they deserve, but we’re also fueling the local economy and providing job training for local workers. We look forward to bringing the high-speed fiber experience where no one else will go.”
Key Line Construction was founded in 2002 and is headquartered in Myrtle Point within the Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative territory. Employees of the organization take great pride in working within the region where they live, work and play. Key Line Construction’s proximity to the project will keep costs low and resources flexible. Their local presence will provide an advantage in the overall project for both Beacon Broadband customers and Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative members.
Beacon Broadband’s fiber network is being built within the same footprint of the Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative service territory with some extensions into neighboring unserved and underserved areas. Key Line Construction is very familiar with the distinct rough terrain of the region, and they have been working with the cooperative for many years on large-scale distribution projects.
In addition to moving forward with our partner Key Line Construction, Beacon Broadband is delighted to continue our relationship with Trice Underground, Inc. Trice has provided great aid in building the Beacon Broadband fiber to the home network.
Construction of the network began in May of 2022, and it is anticipated that the project will take three to four years to complete.
Beacon Broadband thanks ITG Communications, LLC, based in Hendersonville, Tennessee, for their work as Beacon’s initial construction contractor. ITG built the first sections of the Beacon Broadband network and helped validate the capabilities of our local contractors.
